S.A.D. is an acronym for Sweet Afghan Delicious which pretty much sums up this cannabis strain. It is an S1 strain of Black Domina which has been rigorously selected since 1998. S1 strains are those which have been subjected to a programme of self-pollination producing highly homogenous plants with the desired characteristics.
S.A.D. is 90% indica, a fact reflected in its ability to develop incredibly dense, resinous buds with a markedly sweet aroma and a somewhat musky taste. It is very easy to grow and displays great resistance to plant pests and mould, a superb characteristic considering the density of its buds. When grown indoors its yields are good and range from 400 – 500 gr/m2 while outdoor-grown plants should produce in the region of 350 – 550 gr. each. Flowering takes 8 – 9 weeks indoors while in northern latitudes harvest time outdoors will be towards the end of September.
It has been awarded a total of 13 prizes in cannabis competitions between 2006 and 2016, the most important and well-known being Spannabis in Barcelona in 2009 when it was awarded 1st. Prize in the Champions Cup, Indoor Bio category.
